The Patient Identifier is what you would like to use to identify the patient.

In most cases, an UR/MRN number is what is used. Some people may use first 3 letters of the patient’s first name and first 3 letters of the patient’s last name. It is completely your choice as to how you will identify your records.

It is important though, that you do not use the patient’s full name, so they remain unidentifiable to anyone other than you.
